Darrel Paul THUROW, age 72, of the Town of Richmond, Wisconsin, passed away on March 27, 2010, at the University Hospitals, in Madison, WI.

Darrel was born in Merrimac, Wisconsin on December 2, 1937, the son of Wilbert and Elma Thurow. He graduated from Prairie Du Sac High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy as a submarine tender from 1954 until 1972. On April 28, 1962, Darrel married Kay F. Thurow in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Kay preceded him in death on February 15, 2009. Darrel was a member of and served as post chaplain for the Whitewater VFW Post #5470. He

enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.

 Surviving are: Son: Darrel D. (Robin) Thurow, Cross Plains, WI, Son: David Thurow, Fort Atkinson, WI, Daughter: Donna (Wayne) Wilson, Milwaukee, WI, Son: Dennis Thurow, Delavan, WI, Grandchildren: Danielle (Ramon) Casado and Darrel James Thurow, and Three Brothers: Marvin Thurow, Fond du Lac, WI, Russell Thurow, TX, and Larry Thurow, OR.

Darrel was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter Kim Thurow and a brother Gary Thurow.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 1, 2010, at 11:00AM at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, Wisconsin with VFW State Chaplain Charlene Cobb officiating. Burial will be in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5-7PM on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the Nitardy Funeral Home, 550 N. Newcomb Street, Whitewater, Wisconsin.

    My sympathy to the Thurow family. If there is anything I can do just give me a call. Although I did not know Pops very long he was a great guy and I considered him a close friend. Pops will be missed by many.
