Taggart, Peggy Ann-June 26, 2010

Peggy Ann (Gilbert) Taggart of Whitewater, WI and formerly of Janesville, WI died Saturday, June 26, 2010 in the Anderson HospiceCare, Inc. facility, Fitchburg, WI.

She was born August 9, 1947 in Beloit, WI.

Peggy was the daughter of William R. “Pete” and Elsie P. (White) Gilbert.

She was a direct descendant of Peregrine White, first child born after the Mayflower landed at Plymouth Rock.

She was a 1965 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School and a 1975 Data Processing graduate of Madison Area Technical College.

She married Charles H. Taggart on February 14, 1982 at Sun Valley United Presbyterian church in Beloit, WI.

Peggy worked for the state of Wisconsin for 31 years, the last 28 for UW-Madison at DoIt (Division of Information Technology) as a computer programmer and analyst.

She was a member of the Whitewater Congregational UCC where she served as Treasurer for four years and was a member of her high school class reunion committee.

She was an avid and expert quilter and enjoyed shows, classes and bus trips and had quilts displayed in books, exhibits and in a series of PBS shows on Wisconsin quilts.

She also enjoyed travelling and cruises and used her timeshare all over the US and Canada.

Survivors include her husband Charles of Whitewater, daughter Jacqueline Allen of Fitchburg, grandchildren Nichole Ann Kunde, Michael Erwin Kunde, Andrew George Kunde and Zachary James Allen, mother Elsie Gilbert, brother Gregory (Kathy) Gilbert, sister Jayne Gales and numerous wonderful nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father William Gilbert and her in-laws Mabel and Charles Taggart Sr.

Funeral service will be held, Wednesday, June 30 at 12 noon at the Whitewater Congregational UCC, 130 Church Street, Whitewater with Rev. Terese Leonhard officiating. Friends may call after 10AM at the church until the time of service. If you plan to attend wear a happy color that a quilter might like.

Burial will be July 1, 2010 at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, 835 Dearborn Avenue, South Beloit, IL 61080. If you plan to attend wear a happy color that a quilter might like.

The Nitardy Funeral Home of Whitewater is assisting the family.
