Knuteson, Gerald John-August 2, 2010

Gerald John KNUTESON, age 77, of Whitewater, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, August 2, 2010, at his home.

Gerald was born in the Town of LaGrange, Wisconsin on May 24, 1933, the son of Gilbert and Blanche (Emerson) Knuteson. He graduated from Whitewater High School in 1951. On May 12, 1973, Gerald married Darlene Disrud at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Palmyra, Wisconsin. Gerald owned and operated a dairy farm outside of Whitewater. He worked at Wal-Mart in Whitewater for 16 years, retiring in May of 2005. Gerald was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Whitewater. He was in the process of developing a prayer garden at Lakeland Community Church in Elkhorn. Gerald grew watermelons and giant pumpkins for silent auctions to support the local food pantry. He also enjoyed growing plants, berries, and melons to sell at the local farmer’s market. His greatest enjoyment was the time spent with his large family.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Knuteson, Whitewater, WI. Also his children: Jerry Knuteson, Cambridge, WI; Michael Knuteson, Cambridge, WI; David (Deana) Knuteson, Mukwonago, WI; Brian Knuteson, Milford, DE; Cheryl (Nabil) Nehme, Dallas, TX; and Sandra Knuteson, Dubai, UAE; stepchildren: David (Lorna) Disrud, Darien, IL; John Disrud, Delavan, WI; Mark Disrud, Delavan, WI; and Lori (Mark) Sheppard, Beloit, WI. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Glenn and Orville Knuteson.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010, at 12:00 PM at the First English Lutheran Church, Whitewater, WI with Rev. Steven Hanson officiating. Burial will be in the Skoponong Cemetery, Town of Palmyra, Wisconsin.

Friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Saturday.
