Obituary of Melvin Arthur Brunk

Melvin Arthur Brunk, 95, passed away peacefully at home on March 22, 2024, with family by his side.  Mel was born in the Township of Farmington, WI on November 8, 1928, the son of Arthur and Frieda (Wille) Brunk.  He was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church on March 29, 1942.

On December 25, 1982, Mel married Sandra Shreeves at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fort Atkinson, WI and spent over 41 plus years together.  Mel worked 20 years for the Carnation Co and for the next 25 years he did custom home building, overseeing the building of many beautiful homes and to compliment that had acquired his real estate license.

  In retirement years, he was a medical transport driver for LaVigne Bus Company.  He enjoyed socializing with the many people he met and encountered on a daily basis. 

He is survived by his wife Sandra; children Michael (Karen) Brunk, Christine Eubanks and Cynthia Avery; step-daughters Kimberly (Andrew) Kochendorfer and Angela Stanley; grandchildren Melanie (John) Giddings, Pamela (Josh) Abrahamsen, Nicole (Matt) Knight, Natalie Brunk, Nathan (Kerri) Brunk, Hugh Eubanks II, Michael (Adlette) Eubanks, Melissa (Daniel) Poole, Laura (Brandon) Robinson, Rebekah (Kevin) Moller, Matthew Eubanks, Jonathan (Denise) Eubanks, Rachael (Daniel) Berg, Sara (Jeff) Swing, Jennifer Richards, Elizabeth Cobb and Jacob (Crystal) Avery; step-grandchildren Dustin (Paige) Stanley, Jordan and Bryce Kochendorfer; 30 great-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandchild; 1 great-great grandchild; brother Arthur Jr (Elma) Brunk; brother-in-law John (Lois) LaDien; sisters-in-law Karen Sy and Janice (Darrell) Ripley; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother of his children Evora; son Rickey (Peggy) Brunk; son-in-law Hugh Eubanks; great-grandson Taylor Swing; sister Vanita LaDien; brothers Wilmer (Irene) Brunk, Franklin (Ethyl) Brunk, Donald Brunk; sister-n-law Delores; in-laws George and Ethel Fischer.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church 301 S. High St. Fort Atkinson, WI 53538 on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 11:00am with Rev. Matthew Vik and Rev. Allen Kirschbaum officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, Whitewater, WI.  Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30am until the time of the service. 

The family would like to thank Pastor Allen Kirschbaum for his many visits and prayers.  Also, a special thank you to the kind and compassionate caregivers from Rainbow Hospice.
